The story begins at Nasrallah Bou Sleiman caves in the splendid town of Mtein, a sunny Village in the foothills of the Mount Lebanon mountain range. Family-owned through 4 generations – built in 1950.
Passion and heritage have been passed down through the Bou Sleiman family for four generations.
Assuming the family torch, Joseph Bou Sleiman continues the work of his father, Victor, and starts building a new winery in his village and expands the wine production. In 2007 Joseph created Alcart SAL an Agri-food company producing: wines, Arak, Whisky, Vodka, tequila, Gin, liquor, Vinegar, Flour Water, and Lemon Water.
Chateau Oumsiyat blended respect for local tradition with modern techniques to craft contemporary wines.
Chateau Oumsiyat’s wines are grown at an average altitude of 1,000 meters.
78 hectares of vineyards are scattered between the Bekka Valley and Mount Lebanon.
The vineyards are cultivated with respect for the environment, and the grapes are manually harvested at optimal maturity.

Interesting facts about the company

1- In the wine sector:
The Chateau Oumsiyat team researched assyrtiko grapes. They found that this grape was planted in Lebanon 600 years before BC. A Phoenician governor, Membrialus, took the vines and planted them in Santorini. We brought back these vines and planted them in Lebanon.
They are the first winery in Lebanon to produce assyrtiko wines.
2- In the beverage sector:
They launched Ana Beirut whisky.
They are the only ones producing 100 % Lebanese blended malt whisky in Lebanon.
The fermentation of 4 malts and the production is entirely made at their winery, unlike others who bought malt from Scotland and blended it in Lebanon.
3- In the agriculture sector:
Chateau Oumsiyat is planting new vineyards and growing authentic Lebanese grapes like Merwah.

Alcart SAL owners believe that agricultural innovations and inventions were one of the most significant factors that helped introduce the Industrial Revolution. The innovations help develop Lebanon, which needs it more than ever. For that reason, they started working on innovation.
