BIOterre produces bio and eco-friendly products free from any pesticides or chemicals while using local, recycled and environmentally friendly packaging.

The majority of BIOterre’s plantation are century old olive trees . In addition, with the help of Rene Mouawad Foundation, BIOterre started planting bio avocado. In other parts of BIOterre lands different types of Sumac and wild Zaatar are being planted and naturally grown, they also use wood and herbal waste as compost and aim to reduce waste. In addition, BIOterre created a big compost reservoir to produce their own natural compost.

WHAT’S THE INNOVATION?

The packages that carry BIOterre products are fabricated in Lebanon and most are recycled. BIOterre is trying as well to use glass as the main element of packaging and to avoid plastic.

WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND THE INNOVATION?

BIOterre was created by three architects in 2020 during the lockdown with the aim to bring back life to their land in Tanbourit left for more than 30 years. During the lockdown, the three architects rediscovered the benefits of nature and started cleaning and planting their 2.2 hectares lands passed down from elder generations to the current.

BIOterre products are free from any pesticides or chemicals and their packages are from recycled, local and environmentally clean materials. They are committed to produce eco-friendly products and packaging to have a complete circular economy across its whole value chain.

WHO IS BENIFITTING?

By starting the bio process in their lands most of the people were skeptical, now, after only one year, the benefits on the environment are visible, leading to a big number of locals interested in integrating their lands with BIOterre.
