DID YOU KNOW?
Bustan EI Zeitoun, located near the historical temple of Eshmun in Sidon, takes its name from Eshmun, the Phoenician god of healing who believed in the therapeutic use of olive oil and established the philosophy of “the one who oils” is “the one who heals.” Keeping this etymology in mind, they strive to create an exquisite cold-pressed olive oil that your taste buds deserve.
WHAT’S THE INNOVATION?
Bustan El Zeitoun created a thorough process to ensure the production of E.V.O.O., which included the implementation of several quality field processes, as well as others related to oil milling and storage. Their olive oil product line includes three natural flavors that can be paired with various types of dishes. Bustan El Zeitoun’s E.V.O.O. products include mild, balanced, and intense flavors.
WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND THE INNOVATION?
Walid Mushantaf, the founder of Bustan El Zeitoun, saved a beautiful piece of land in the village of Aabra threatened by urbanization and industrialization in 2011 and turned it into a 25-hectare estate olive tree Italian cultivar haven. He reaped the authentic flavors by harvesting the land’s strengths. That is how Bustan El Zeitoun’s exquisite extra virgin olive oil came to be.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
When it came to perfecting his E.V.O.O., the founder of Bustan El Zeitoun prioritized quality over quantity and refused to sacrifice taste for the sake of price. Walid Mushantaf reaped the benefits of his efforts, and his E.V.O.O. now has numerous awards and meets international quality standards. These high-quality products are sourced in Lebanon, manufactured by Lebanese workers, and sold both inside and outside the country. Mr. Mushantaf values giving back to and empowering the community and country that helped his company grow, whether by aiding the economy or supporting its labor force.
WHO IS BENEFITTING?
Bustan El Zeitoun promoted the benefits of E.V.O.O. to schools in the region by adapting educational programs for students. They also offer group site visits to their farm, highlighting the benefits of E.V.O.O., olive trees, and mother nature. It is their intention and future goal to establish an olive oil tasting school for students of all ages. Furthermore, they began offering tours of their orchards and production facilities to groups and individuals interested in learning more about the production process. Finally, they help the Lebanese economy by creating job opportunities and increasing revenues.
