DID YOU KNOW?
Founder Alfred Chidiac is an architect at heart who became a gourmet and a passioné de cuisine du terroir during his 15 years abroad in the southwest of France in Bordeaux. He came back to Lebanon in 2018 to found Maison Alfred, a private “table d’hôte” in his house garden, where people can come and enjoy unique dining experiences. An exclusive cuisine made by merging the two rich terroirs, the French and the Lebanese, resulting in exceptional items such as the “baklawa de rillettes de canard” or the salty “kenefé au fromage de chèvre”. Alfred became an entrepreneur when he started selling the special condiments he uses in the recipes of his dishes.
WHAT’S THE INNOVATION?
Maison Alfred’s range of products are condiments, sauces, and charcuteries. All of which are handmade using artisanal techniques, they use fresh and raw ingredients, sourced from local Lebanese producers. Resulting in high quality and exceptional taste in the batches they produce combining creativity, surprise, and boldness. They also offer a range of delicatessen, made from local pork, duck-like smoked bacon, coppa, lomo, bresaola, etc.
WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND THE INNOVATION?
Alfred started cooking ten years ago, in France, since then he created what later became his condiment N01 ginger, turmeric and lemongrass. In 2018, Maison Alfred was launched with the aim to bring new tastes to the Lebanese consumer and be the first local brand offering unconventional products.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Sourcing dry-aged meats from local farmers positioned Maison Alfred as one of the companies innovating in the food sector, supplying the demand for delicatessen in the Lebanese market. Additionally, proposing a range of original condiments and sauces reduces the imports of similar products.
WHO IS BENEFITTING?
Maison Alfred is creating long-term partnerships with local farmers and encouraging them to grow imported high-value vegetables. By securing their supply source, Maison Alfred is helping local residents to benefit from an increased income and enhanced livelihood.
