Chady & Maya launched their artisanal distillery in 2018 in their native village Rechmaya where they crafted Lebanese gin and vodka. Passionate about flavors and experimenting with different ingredients, Chady further developed his cooking certificate with advanced courses in distilling to be able to craft the best-balanced Gin recipe. Maya, his wife, after years in communication, focused on giving the brand a cool and cheerful image.

After working for years abroad in the corporate field, the owners returned to Lebanon only to find out their love for nature filtered back into their hearts, turning their focus towards their hometown Rechmaya where they transformed an old family silk factory into an artisanal gin distillery, producing the first Lebanese artisanal distilled gin, JUN.
WHAT’S THE INNOVATION?
Creating gin using their Lebanese terroir. Most of their botanicals are from Rechmaya and the most important one: JUNIPER BERRIES which are wild, organic, and Lebanese from the Bekaa valley.
Rechmaya Distillery uses all of these botanicals to infuse their Lebanese gins, to make them unique in aromas embodying all the local flavors.
WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND THE INNOVATION?
Discovering Juniper berries in the Bekaa valley, from the Juniper reserve, the owners studied a full course on distilling and fermentation in South Africa, returning to Lebanon to test the botanicals of their garden and craft different recipes. Their purpose is to remain close to their family, village, and roots by leading a resourceful rural life by creating work opportunities in the region for gardeners, women, and youth.

Rechmaya Distillery aims to be one of the leaders in Lebanese Gin production and to put Lebanon and Rechmaya on the map of artisanal and innovative premium spirits production.
