Nicolas currently serves as the Regional Innovation Hub Manager for Water and Energy for Food (WE4F) in the MENA region, a joint international initiative of the German BMZ, the EU, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the Netherlands, Norad, Sweden through Sida, and USAID. In this role, he provides overall leadership management and general technical direction for the program. He ensures an integrated vision among different stakeholders with a focus on achieving the defined impact and results.
Nicolas also leads Berytech’s SMEs division, which includes several support programs addressed to MSMEs in Lebanon, covering various sectors, and funded by multiple Donors, which include but are not limited to the UN’s WFP, AFD, GIZ, Canada, and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Nicolas’s journey with Berytech began in 2020 following an accomplished 11-year career in project finance spanning various industries. During this period, he specialized in corporate banking, syndication lending, and non-recourse project finance, with a particular emphasis on Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) and utility-scale renewable energy projects. Additionally, he took on ad-hoc missions related to nationwide high-level strategic projects.
His experience in the finance sector involved arranging and structuring specialized transactions with a combined value exceeding $2 billion.
Nicolas had the privilege of collaborating with diverse stakeholders, ranging from large and complex corporations to Ultra High Net Worth Individuals (UHNWIs), government officials, International Financial Institutions (IFIs), Development Financial Institutions (DFIs), Tier 1 global legal counsels, technical and financial consultants, as well as environmental and social advisors.
What Nicolas is mostly passionate about in his current role is the opportunity to leverage his financial acumen and industry expertise to drive sustainable development and have a positive social and environmental impact. By combining his past experience in structuring financial solutions with the noble mission of WE4F, he strives to create a synergy bridging financial innovation with international development. Together, they can unlock opportunities, fuel innovation, and catalyze transformative change in the MENA region’s water, energy, and food sectors.
Nicolas is deeply committed to the idea that sound financial principles can play a pivotal role in addressing the world’s most pressing challenges. He is enthusiastic about being at the forefront of this journey as they work toward a more sustainable and prosperous future for all.
While being very ambitious and an overachiever, he will never compromise spending some quality time with his family and friends. He also enjoys cooking in his spare time and is most passionate about traveling and trying new culinary experiences.
